Stories

A person’s story is
not content by default.

Every experience behind Project Taken Back is real to someone. Real people are not content. They are individuals with rights, boundaries and ongoing lives.

Current status

No participant stories
are published here yet.

We are intentionally not publishing participant stories right now. Sharing someone’s experience requires clear permission, careful review and a responsible decision.

An empty album represents where we are today — listening, learning and building the right process before any stories are shared.

How a story could be published

Publication follows a careful trail.

A story only becomes public if a participant gives permission and it meets our review standards. This process helps protect people, maintain accuracy and respect legal and privacy considerations.

  1. Permission

A participant must give clear, informed and specific permission to share their story.

  2. Source review

We review the information to understand what can be accurately and responsibly shared.

  3. Privacy review

We assess privacy risks, remove sensitive details and confirm what can be shared safely.

  4. Publication decision

A human review determines whether the story meets our standards and can be published.

Participation and publication are different

Not every participant story will be shared.

Many people seek support through Project Taken Back. Choosing to participate does not mean their story will be published. A participant may share information with us and still choose not to have their story made public.

Even with permission, some stories may not be published due to privacy, safety, legal or other considerations.

You can still learn about our mission, process and resources while we continue to build a responsible way to share stories in the future.
