Preparing
for Review

You do not need a perfect file.
Start with the basics.

An incomplete file can still be a starting point. This guide will help you gather what you have, understand what may be missing, and prepare your submission when you’re ready.

What should I gather?

Six helpful parts to get you started.

These are common items that help us understand your situation. You do not need everything, and you are not required to provide all of these. Use this list as a guide to organize what you have and note what is missing.

An incomplete file
can still be a starting point.

01Case information

A short summary of what happened, including relevant dates, locations and involved parties (if known). Keep court, county, state and case numbers for your private intake.

02Key orders

Any court orders, filings or decisions that relate to your case (such as custody, visitation or protection orders).

03Short timeline

A simple timeline of important events as you remember them. Exact dates are helpful but not required; label uncertainty.

04What you have

Any documents, messages, photos or notes you already have. Even partial records can be useful.

05What is missing

Note what you do not have yet. Missing records are common, and we can help you think through options for finding them.

06Questions

List your questions or areas where you need guidance. There is no such thing as a silly question.

Start publicly. Share privately when invited.

Start publicly. Share privately when invited.

You can begin with a public request, and if your situation is a match, you may be invited to share documents through a secure, private intake.

Public request

Begin with a brief description of your situation. Do not attach case records or identity documents to the public request.

Request support
  1. Public request
  2. Human review
  3. Possible invitation
  4. Authorized private intake

A public request does not guarantee an invitation or membership.

Authorized private intake

A private invitation opens the Applicant Portal. Upload records only through an authorized private workflow when requested.

Keep in mind

Missing pieces are common.

You may not have every document, and that’s okay. Many people begin with only a few items and fill in the rest over time. Our team can help you identify next steps and potential sources for records.

Important reminder

Do not send government IDs, financial account numbers, or any other sensitive personal information through public forms. Identity verification is deferred during BETA, and no sensitive records are required to start.

Ready when you are

Start with what you have.

Take the next step when you’re ready. An incomplete file can still be a starting point, and our team will help you from there. Keep any private summary short and factual; separate what you know from unanswered questions.
